DATE: 22nd October, 2010
VENUE: Parle –G Factory, Tumkur Road, Bangalore

The students of the MBA 17 and IS 7 from Bangalore Management Academy led by Prof. Gautham were treated to an enriching experience when they got an opportunity to visit the Parle-G factory in Bangalore. Parle-G is one of the oldest brand names in India as well as the largest selling brand of biscuits in the world.

The delicious aroma of freshly baked biscuits greeted the students as they reached the Parle factory. The students were led to the auditorium for a short presentation on the history of the company. The unit in Bangalore was the 3rd factory to be set up in India, where great care is exercised in the selection and quality control of raw material and standard checked at every stage of the manufacturing process. An animated short film was then shown to the students which introduced the various brands of biscuits, confectioneries and snacks.

The students were then shown around the factory by a guide who explained the different stages of manufacturing and packaging process which included raw material testing, mixing, moulding, baking, cooling and final packaging. The guide also took time out to answer the queries of the students. As the tour neared its end, the students were offered some delicious Parle-G biscuits and melody coconut flavored toffees. Altogether this was a great experience as we students got exposure to the real shop floor, manufacturing and Parle–G’s supply chain processes.
